Allwyn Champions Inclusivity and Spinal Cord Injury Research in the Wings for Life World Run 2024

Allwyn is ecstatic to back the Wings for Life World Run once more in 2024! This remarkable occasion, taking place on May 5th, directs 100% of registration costs and contributions straight towards spinal cord injury studies.

As a worldwide collaborator, Allwyn is enthusiastically promoting this year’s run and urging everyone to take part. The previous year’s event garnered an astounding €4.3 million (equivalent to $4.58 million!) for pioneering research and medical trials.

What distinguishes this event is its welcoming nature – individuals of all capabilities are invited to join. Pavel Turek, Allwyn’s Head of Global Brand, Corporate Communication, and CSR, eloquently summarized the shared principles: “Allwyn is dedicated to inclusivity and contributing to society, which aligns seamlessly with the values of the Wings for Life World Run.” He continued, “We are honored to be the Official Global Partner of this one-of-a-kind and motivating event and delighted to participate for a second year in a row.”

The allure of the Wings for Life World Run resides in its distinctive structure. There’s no predetermined finish line! Instead, 30 minutes after the race commences, a virtual “Catcher Car” begins pursuing participants. This Catcher Car progressively accelerates, and once it passes you, your race concludes. Whether you’re utilizing a wheelchair, strolling, or jogging, the Catcher Car will persist in chasing everyone worldwide until every last participant is overtaken. As Turek aptly states, “Everyone is joined together, whether running, walking, or participating in any other manner, we are all victors.”

As the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games approach,” declared Paralympics GB Chair Nick Webborn, “advocating for inclusivity within athletics has never been more vital.” He underscored Paralympics GB’s dedication to “fostering a more inclusive society for individuals with disabilities through the transformative influence of sports.”

Webborn’s remarks coincided with his commendation of the collaboration between Paralympics GB and Irwin Mitchell, a UK-based legal firm, for their backing of the “Running Out of Time” relay. This worldwide endeavor, he observed, dovetails seamlessly with Irwin Mitchell’s principles, emphasizing the profound effect of engagement.

Irwin Mitchell has committed substantial resources to the relay. In addition to promoting the event throughout Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, the UK, and the US, more than 7,000 of their staff members will be actively involved.

Mark Harmans, the catalyst behind the wheelchair segment of the “Running Out of Time” relay, conveyed his personal ties to the initiative. “Having directly observed the life-changing ramifications of spinal cord trauma,” he stated, “the combined endeavor of Irwin Mitchell and participants globally represents a significant stride towards enhancing the lives of those impacted.”

In other corporate social responsibility efforts within Britain, the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) revealed that the 2024 Grand National Charity Bet has already garnered a noteworthy sum surpassing £15,000 (roughly $18,662) for a range of charitable organizations.
