Malaysian Casino Giants Deny Involvement in Forest City Project

A Malaysian news source, The Star, published accounts of both Berjaya Corporation and Genting Malaysia formally refuting their participation in any talks concerning a potential second casino in Forest City, Johor.

This follows Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s dismissal of the circulating rumors as “fabrications” lacking any factual grounding. Genting Malaysia released a declaration stating, “Genting Malaysia wants to make it clear that the company and Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay have not engaged in any such conversations or gatherings, and the accusations are entirely false.”

Berjaya Corporation also lodged a police complaint regarding the untrue claims and disseminated an official press statement through The Star to correct the record. In their statement, Berjaya Corporation emphasized that “no such deliberations have occurred with any entities named in any of the publications… and refuted all the unsubstantiated allegations…”
