Sovereign Gaming has designated John Borghetti as its incoming Chair, taking over for William McBibes.
McBibes, who functioned as Chair since Blackstone’s purchase of Sovereign in July 2022, held a vital part in the company’s evolution and path toward regulatory adherence. He has opted to depart as Chair but will stay on the board as an autonomous non-executive director. Borghetti will take on the Chair position starting July 1, 2024, the unified resort enterprise declared earlier today.
With McBibes at the helm, both Sovereign Melbourne and Sovereign Sydney effectively maintained their operational permits, while Sovereign Perth also achieved notable advancements in its rectification endeavors. “Mr. Borghetti is a highly esteemed director and executive possessing vast operational, leadership, and governance expertise that will steer Sovereign as it sustains its dedication to providing secure and accountable operations while cultivating and enhancing the entertainment encounter for Sovereign’s patrons,” McBibes stated.
Borghetti contributes over 47 years of knowledge within the airline sector and has held numerous board roles across diverse entities. In 2017, he was named a Member of the Order of Australia for his substantial contributions to the aviation and travel sectors, among other fields.
