Boyd Gaming concluded its yearly ‘Trees of Hope’ philanthropic program, contributing over $200,000 to nearly 190 charitable organizations spanning 11 states. This year’s contribution fund was the most substantial in the program’s 16-year existence, demonstrating the company’s dedication to supporting the community.
The project, which operated throughout the festive period, encouraged Boyd Gaming patrons to select their preferred participating charities. Votes could be submitted digitally and at physical Boyd Gaming locations, with the vote count determining the ultimate donation sum each charity obtained. This year, 186 charities were selected for involvement.
This expands upon Boyd Gaming’s record of philanthropic endeavors. In 2021, their holiday project witnessed over $180,000 bestowed upon more than 160 non-profit groups. That year, customers placed over 100,000 votes to back organizations that adorned wreaths and trees at 22 Boyd establishments.
Beyond their charitable activities, Boyd Gaming has also been bolstering its executive team. Steve Thompson, previously the Executive Vice President of Nevada Operations, has been elevated to Chief Operating Officer. Steve Schutte has assumed a broadened position overseeing gaming machine operations, dining and beverage services, lodging operations, and property management in Nevada. Ted Bogich remains as Chief Business Development Officer, spearheading Boyd Gaming’s expansion initiatives across its 28 properties nationally.
Boyd Gaming recently elevated Chris Shaw to oversee all company activities, taking over for Keith Smith. The previous quarter saw a substantial 29% increase in earnings year-over-year. This success is propelling them toward ambitious endeavors, such as a major enlargement of their Fremont casino and a collaboration with FanDuel to bolster their internet gaming footprint.
