Sportradar Launches Social Media Integrity Program for German Ice Hockey League and Fraud Detection System for Slovak Football Association

A firm specializing in sports data and promoting fair play has introduced a new initiative to educate athletes on the safe and responsible use of social media platforms.

The premier ice hockey league in Germany, the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), is the first to join this program.

The program incorporates webinars and workshops designed for athletes. These sessions provide athletes with insights into the potential risks associated with using social media in a manner that could harm the sport, and offer guidance on how to utilize social media platforms safely.

“The potential harm to a player’s reputation and the sport itself from using social media is substantial,” remarked Andrew Whittingham, who leads the education and integrity team at the company. “Not only can inappropriate online behavior negatively impact individual players, but it can also damage teams, leagues, and even the entire sport.”

“We are pleased to be collaborating with [DEL] and commend them for taking such a decisive stance on educating athletes about social media integrity.”

By educating athletes, umpires, and officials concurrently, they ensure everyone involved in hockey understands their role in maintaining fairness and integrity.

Gernot Tripcke, the leader of the German Ice Hockey League, expressed his satisfaction with collaborating with Sportradar.

“Athletes are constantly active on social media platforms, and they desire their profiles to appear appealing,” Tripcke elaborated.

“These workshops will contribute to safeguarding online environments. It’s also about preventing individuals from engaging in dishonest practices, which is of paramount importance to our league.”

Sportradar will also implement its Fraud Detection System (FDS) for the Slovak Football Association (SFZ).

Sportradar will utilize the FDS to monitor games and friendly matches in the lower divisions of Slovakia to identify, report, and analyze unusual betting patterns.

If necessary, the SFZ can also leverage Sportradar’s specialists and investigators to assist with issues related to impartiality, as well as their training programs.

The Slovakian Football Federation is dedicated to combating match manipulation and has joined forces with Sportradar Integrity Services, showcasing their dedication to upholding the fairness of the sport. SFZ Integrity Officer Jakub Čavoj stated, “Their FDS wagering monitoring system offers vital oversight of the worldwide betting marketplace, enabling their integrity specialists to notify us of any discrepancies.”

“We eagerly anticipate this partnership and collaborating to safeguard the integrity of Slovakian football.”

Sportradar Integrity Services Managing Director Andreas Krannich expressed that the company’s proficiency makes it well-suited to safeguarding the integrity of Slovakian domestic football.

“We are thrilled to partner with the SFZ and provide our expertise to assist in protecting their domestic football matches from integrity-related dangers,” Krannich stated. “With 15 years of experience in sports integrity and our market-leading FDS solution, we are committed to assisting our sports partners in identifying and preventing manipulation, and recognizing and mitigating all forms of integrity risks.”
