BCLC and theScore Advocate for Legalized Single-Game Sports Betting in Canada

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and theScore, a media organization, both advocate for the legalization of single-game sports wagering in Canada.

At present, Section 207(4)(b) of the Canadian Criminal Code only permits wagering on a minimum of three games or more, making betting on a solitary game or event unlawful.

However, Conservative Member of Parliament Kevin Waugh seeks to alter this with Bill C-218, also recognized as the Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act, which underwent its initial reading in the House of Commons in February. The legislation aims to abolish Section 207(4)(b) of the Criminal Code to enable single-game sports wagering.

BCLC and theScore now also endorse this endeavor, hoping to legalize single-game sports betting in British Columbia and the broader Canadian marketplace.
