The gambling halls in Detroit saw a dip in earnings for August, reaching $104.9 million, a 1.1% decrease compared to the same month last year.
The three commercial gambling establishments in Detroit, Michigan, brought in $104.9 million (£84.3 million/€97.7 million) in August, a 1.1% decline from August 2022. The city also saw a decrease in revenue compared to the previous month.
The total revenue for August was lower than the $106.1 million reported in August 2022. The monthly total was also 2.2% lower than the $107.2 million reported by Detroit in July.
Specifically, $104.6 million came from table games and slot machines, a slight increase of 0.1% from the previous year. Sports betting qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) reached $322,186 on $10 million in bets.
MGM remains the leader in Detroit with a 47% market share. The casino reported $49.5 million in slots and table game revenue and $85,644 in sports betting QAGR.
MotorCity came in second with a 30% market share. Slots and table game revenue reached $30.7 million, with a betting QAGR of $195,955.
Greektown Casino-Hotel took third place in the Detroit market with a 23% market share. The casino reported $24.4 million in casino revenue and a sports betting QAGR of $40,587.
The casinos paid $8.5 million in casino game-related taxes to the state and $16.5 million in wagering and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit.
The state also collected $12,179 in sports betting taxes, while the city of Detroit collected $14,885.
